EISIGWALD / MORBUS MUNDI (Rus): Split CD
(Stellar Winter)

Finally, after years and years of it being completely sold out and out of print with the label having disappeared without a trace, Northern Heritage show they have the testicular fortitude to re-issue this cult underground classic from 1995. If you never got the chance to hear it, what "Forest Poetry" offer is some of the most primal Black Metal ever recorded, a demonstration of Nordic barbarism and mindless, irrational anger, with exactly zero production values and no interest in musicianship beyond making the most horrid of noise imaginable. This racket is what results when responding to purely to elemental instincts stemming from the most ancient regions of the prehistoric brain. Songs lasting past the three minute mark can be considered epic here, and more than three riffs qualifies as progressive and technical. This edition comes with brand new artwork by the talented original artist, and a mountainload of bonus material, which results in an obese tracklist runing into the mid thirties and a morbidly obese playing time of 78 minutes. 18 of these includes the "Forest Poetry" / "Ildjarn" raw mix instrumental sessions. If you think you possess the timpanic stamina to endure this assault, or else crave a dose of senseless, gratuitous violence straight from the frozen forests of Norway, then buy.
