NUIT NOIRE (Fra): "Fantomatic Plenitude" CD
(Armageddon Records)
You are unlikely to encounter Black Metal resembling NUIT NOIRE elsewhere, as this is one of those unique projects, which is so ridiculous as to be brilliant. NUIT NOIRE are obsessed with fairies, for whatever reason, and they then play very primitive and garagey songs bordering on Punk, drowning in cavernous reverb, and full of weird bittersweet riffing, between happy and melancholic. Weirder still are the vocals, which are clean and high-pitched, and delivered in a joyous and thick French accent. The album contains 18 tracks in total (almost all of them under 3 minutes in length, and frequently between 90 to 180 seconds in duration): the first 9 tracks recorded in the studio (and what constitutes the album proper), and the next 9 recorded live (with a very good sound). You will either love or hate this album, and NUIT NOIRE in general; however they are nonetheless obscurely unique. Don'te expect this to be around forever. Reviewed by AK-47.
