Sathanas

Biography

SATHANAS entered the extreme Metal scene with their 1988 Satanic Death / Thrash demo "Ripping Evil" (subsequently released as a 7" ep by Reaper Records / Midian Creations in 1994), containing "Sathanas", "Blood Sacrifice", "Hail Lucifer", and the underground classic "Jaws of Satan". Problems with rehearsals caused SATHANAS to dissolve shortly afterwards, with members going to ACHERON and BATHYM. Both bands did a few shows together before ACHERON, with Vincent Crowley, moved to Florida to promote the band. BATHYM released the "Into Darkness" demo in 1990, which was then followed shortly afterwards by the "Demonic Force" 7" ep, on the French label Thrash Records. Members subsequently losing interest in the scene decided to terminate BATHYM, with the exception of Paul Tucker, who resolved to get SATHANAS back together. Paul contacted Bill Davidson and Jim Baker, and the three of them recorded their 1995 debut full-length "Black Earth" for After Dark Records. After Dark Records, however, went bankrupt and the band switched to Metal Merchant of Chicago, U.S.A., with whom they re-recorded "Black Earth", with three extra tracks, later that same year. Metal Merchant, however, went bankrupt as well and, by then with new material, the band contacted Conquistador Records. Conquistador Records' keen interest resulted in the forging of the infernal 11-track Death / Thrash assault "Armies of Charon".

Following Supernal Music's re-assessment of its band portfolio in 2000, SATHANAS' third album, "Thy Dark Heavens", as well as "Black Earth", eventually saw the light under a different label.
