Biography

Though originally conceived in Monterrey, Mexico, in 1986, with beasts Miguel O. on drums and vocals, Jorge M. on bass and vocals, and Lord Sargatanas on all chainsaws, SARGATANAS has, since 1994, actually been based in Guadalajara, where the latter reformed the band, after a long hiatus, with bassist / vocalist Manuel H. and drummer Urantial's Emperor. The current line-up was arrived to with Manuel H.'s replacement by Anathama's God and second chainsaw Astaroth, following virulence amongst the members.

Rabidly Satanic, and musically corrupted by the influence of POSSESSED, VENOM, NECROVORE, DEATH, SLAYER, HELLHAMMER, and EXORCIST (plus the other 1980's extreme Metal icons that many fashionable musicians in the genre have been fond of citing in their biographies for the past few years), SARGATANAS razed numerous venues in their country alongside both local and international acts, and proceeded to escalate the profanation with a brutal 3-track self-titled demo, blasted on a 28-track studio and later on re-released as a mcd by that model of sound ethics and honest business practice, the American label Wild Rags Records.

SARGATANAS subsequently signed to Supernal Music's (South) American extreme Metal specialist label, Conquistador Records, which financed the recording of the sulphurous and furiously desecrating full-length debut album, "The Enlightenment". This slab of Satanic Black / Death Metal emerged in early 1999 to meet with surprising acclaim in the underground.

Following Supernal Music's re-assessment of its band portfolio in 2000, the band's second album saw the light under a different label.
