Through this newsletter we intend to bring you news and information about what plots and operations are brewing within Supernal Music's trenches. This newsletter is sent to magazines, fanzines, webzines, and distributors, as well as to our mail order customers.

If you have never heard from us before, we are an underground extreme music record label based in England. Our current roster includes bands like DRUDKH, ASTROFAES, CONTRA IGNEM FATUUM, We also have an excellent mail order service and online store, with thousands of products from the deep underground, many rare, limited, or hard to find, coverning a variety of genres, from Black Metal to Dark Ambient to Funeral and Drone Doom to Black Noise.

ASHES
The debut album 'Hymn to a Grey Sky' was released in September. Raw but atmospheric Black Metal from Devon, with Pagan / sylvian sensibilities and ranging from necrotic distortion inferno to almost ambient-like tranquillity. ASHES is to appear in the forthcoming anti-Geldof compilation with a 10-minute track.

ASTROFAES
A new album has been recorded and will be released later in the year. "Idea. Form. Essence." is in the same mould as the successful "Those Whose Past is Immortal".

BENIGHTED LEAMS
The second album from 1998 is currently being completely re-worked with a view to its being re-recorded later in the year. The aim here is to eliminate the problems that afflicted the original version. The new version will have the same songs, but with a better and more powerful sound, more layered arrangements, better drums, and completely different vocals, in the vein of those heard in "Ferly Centesms" and "Obombrid Welkins".

BLOOD OF KINGU (ex-HATE FOREST)
The band intends to finish working on their material for their debut album soon. We expect to be releasing it later in the year.

CAPRICORNUS
Capricornus is completely out of the scene. Sources close to him hope for his return, however, but otherwise our cultural warrior remains shrouded in obscurity.

CONTRA IGNEM FATUUM (ex-CIRCUMSCRIBER)
The latest reports from the band indicate that the mixing for the re-recorded version of "Halcyon Mockery", began nearly 3 years ago now, will be completed soon, so we are hopeful we will be releasing this magisterial opus this year. We plan to present this release with extraordinary packaging, in tune with the band's Nietzschean and elitist sensibilities.

DARK AGES
No news for the present.

DRUDKH
The band's sixth album, after their brief foray into Neo-Folk in the shape of last October's "Songs of Grief and Solitude", will be called "Estrangement", and not "River of Tears", as originally thought; it will also consist of Black Metal more in the epic and melancholic vein of "Forgotten Legends", albeit with a better yet still anti-commercial, underground prodution. Because a band of this calibre deserves it, we will be making "Estrangement" available in a DeLuxe version as well as the normal version. The DeLuxe version will come with added features, which we will expound in future commuciations.

ELDRIG
The latest addition to our roster. ELDRIG is a project of one of the members of the magnificent FANISK, the band that released one of the best albums of 2006, "Noontide". ELDRIG follows up their complex 2003 demo with a new opus "Kali", comprised of four tracks, three of which are of epic length and evince similar guitar work to what we heard in FANISK's album. ELDRIG's main themes are compatible with, though not identical to, FANISKS, dealing with Nietzschean philosophy, Aryanism, and the martial spirit. "Kali" will be released this Spring.

ETHEREAL WOODS
The band is currently working on the follow-up to their Doomy Black Metal opus, "In the Forest of Arden".

FLEURETY
The second edition of 2000's "Department of Apocalyptic Affairs", which will have completely new artwork, will be released later.

No activity on this front.

SUNWHEEL
Their debut full-album is still currently being recorded. Apparently the vocals have yet to be committed to the binary.

WOODS OF INFINTY
This highly ironic and depressive Swedish duo have nearly completed work on their fourth album, titled "Hamptjärn". The album is sent tentatively for release in the Spring.

Fourth album. While 'Ferly Centesms' was densely-packed with tortuous, dissonant, icy riffing, 'Obombrid Welkins' has a deeper, heavier sound and longer tracks, mixing a more melodic approach with hypnotic, nostalgic atmospheres, chugging rhythmic sections, and panicked dissonances. There are some innovations: firstly, a different lyrical approach (almost all the lyrics have been written by Wulfhild, and deal with twisted phobias, like fear of heavy objects causing floors to collapse, pathophobia, alopaecia, and so forth); secondly influences from readings of Dr. William Luther Pierce and Prof. Kevin acDonald, aesthetised in arcane, mythologising ways.

FERLY048CD ARKTHOS (USA): "Knights of the Eternal Sun" CD

Epic and mystical Black Metal. Very guitar-oriented and melodically melancholic but with anti-modern sensibilities in harmony with those of the magisterial FANISK and the ultra-obscure BEYOND THE NORTH WINDS.

aw, cavernous Black Metal in the mid 90s vein with unusual riffing and unexpected twists and turns and an obscure, Doomy atmosphere. The lyrics are in an arcane hybrid of various forms of archaic English.

Second album, which abandons the Mediaeval themes of the predecessor in favour of a deep space concept. More orchestrated and with some ambient parts, but just as obscure. (Sold out)

Third album. Totally raw, twisted, and depressive Black Metal obscurantism, with cavernous sound, hissing production, and the most impenetrable lyrics ever written.

The third album from the blackly depressive and constantly negative Marco Kehren. Guaranteed to wipe the smile off your face.

FERLY002CD              M87 (GBr) "Noctilucent Threnody" cd, 1999
Deep space music, combining cosmic noise pieces with eerie symphonic sounds of vast, mind-boggling proportions. Although it doesn't sound like it at all when you play it, the music was created entirely with 7- and 8- string guitars and 7-string bass. Cold and monumental - one of our most mysterious and least known releases.

FERLY003MCD             FLEURETY (Nor) "Last-Minute Lies" mcd, 1999 (sold out)
Norway's enfants terribles ended a four-year hiatus with this sublime mini-album, which is Doomier and at the same time more dissonant than their 1995 debut on Misanthropy Records. Female vocals, saxophone, syncopated drums, and broken, unpredictable arrangements.

FERLY004CD-alpha      FLEURETY (Nor) "Department of Apocalyptic Affairs" cd, 2000 (temp. out of print)
This second full album from Norway's most awkward and unorthodox band hosts a wide variety of contributions from la crème de la crème of the Norwegian clique, including Garm, Maniac, Hellhammer, and others. This effort is crammed with electronics, effects, and eclectic song writing, which nevertheless retains a modicum of dissonant post-Black Metal guitars as a framework. Voted one of the top 40 albums of 2000 in that years Terrorizer's readers' poll, despite its thoroughly unconventional and uncommercial approach.

FERLY005CD              THE MEADS OF ASPHODEL (GBr) "The Excommunication of Christ" cd, 2001
Part of the new wave of British Black Metal, alongside with AKERCOCKE and ANAAL NATHRAKH, this is probably the weirdest one of the three, with their Mediaevalisms, Middle Eastern flavour, and unorthodox song writing. Symphonic, unpredictable, with rumbling guitars and catchy, unforgettable riffs. Even though we never placed any ads in any magazine and eschewed all forms of hype, the album received 8/10 in Metal Hammer, was proclaimed "album of the week" by Malcolm Dome in his radio show, and the band was featured in the December issue of Terrorizer.

FERLY006CD              HATE FOREST (Ukr): "The Most Ancient Ones" cd / mc, 2002
Darker than black, fast, unmelodic true Black Metal, inspired by Nietzschean philosophy, the ideology of elitism, and the nocturnal atmosphere of deep forests and swamps. This is a reworking of the material which originally appeared in the rare "The Curse" album, previously available on cassette only, now re-recorded at twice the speed.

FERLY007PD              MAYHEM (Nor)/THE MEADS OF ASPHODEL (GBr): "Freezing Moon, Carnage/Jihad" 10" pd, 2002 (Sold out)
Unusual split vinyl, limited to 666 copies and now sold out. The MAYHEM side contained two popular songs, in this version the only ones the band ever recorded in a proper studio with the classic line up (Dead, Euronymous, Necrobutcher, Hellhammer). THE MEADS OF ASPHODEL's side contains a four-track mini-album, inspired by the attack of 11 September 2001. 8/10 in Terrorizer and Single of the Week in Kerrang!

FERLY007CD MAYHEM (Nor)/THE MEADS OF ASPHODEL (GBr): "Freezing Moon, Carnage/Jihad" cd, 2002
Compact disc version of the sold-out picture disc, with two bonus tracks from THE MEADS OF ASPHODEL. The MAYHEM side contained two popular songs, in this version the only ones the band ever recorded in a proper studio with the classic line up (Dead, Euronymous, Necrobutcher, Hellhammer). THE MEADS OF ASPHODEL's side contains a four-track mini-album, inspired by the attack of 11 September 2001.

FERLY008CD HATE FOREST (Ukr): "Purity" cd, 2003
Third album from this most laconic and hostile Ukrainian horde. This album combines the deadly speed of "The Most Ancient Ones" with epos and a reflective character, rooted in a sense of ancient history and shamanic mysticism.

FERLY009CD DRUDKH (Ukr): Forgotten Legends cd
Debut album from this Ukrainian horde, featuring members of HATE FOREST. "Forgotten Legends" sounds like a blend of the latter band and BURZUM: fluid like a stream in the forest, yet raw like the moist earth.

FERLY010CD THE MEADS OF ASPHODEL (GBr): "Exhuming the Grave of Yeshua" CD
Second full-length album from one of the most creative English Black Metal bands around today. This, their second album, features rawer guitars and, at the same time, more varied and ingenious orchestration. Just about anything and everything is thrown in here, although woven into a melodic Black Metal framework with such skill and panache that the musical flow is able to bring an endless stream of surprises (and even some truly bizarre moments) in a refreshing way.

FERLY011CD CAPRICORNUS (Pol): Alone Against All cd
Debut album from Capricornus' (THOR'S HAMMER, ex-GRAVELAND) eponymous project. The explosion of disgust towards the system based on illusions of equality, freedom, and brotherhood culminates 10 years of the band's existence. Similar in style to THOR'S HAMMER's 'Three Weeds from the Same Root', but with more extreme vocals and a more radical stance, as well as cosmic ambiance.

FERLY012CD DRUDKH (Ukr): Autumn Aurora cd
Second album. Depressive Black Metal from the Ukraine, inspired by heathen poetry, nature, and the almost lost Slavonic culture. The band features members of HATE FOREST and sound like a blend of that band and BURZUM. This one improves on the excellent debut with the addition of dreamy keyboards.

FERLY013CD HATE FOREST (Ukr): Battlefields cd
Sixth album. Solemn, obscure, militaristic, this time they produce a bombastic opus in the vein of epic GRAVELAND, but much grimmer and hateful, and full of terrible sadness. Includes traditional Ukrainian folk songs intercalated between tracks.

FERLY014CD INFERNUM (Pol): ...Taur-Nu-Fuin... cd
Re-issue of the long-out-of-print 1995 album. INFERNUM, whose line-up included Rob Darken (of GRAVELAND) and Capricornus (of THOR'S HAMMER and CAPRICORNUS), was one of the most promising and well-respected Polish Black Metal hordes, back in those dark, incendiary 1990s. Along with VELES and GRAVELAND, this album sits at the apex of that period and style. The album is offers truly obscure Black Metal with evil (somewhat overwhelming) keyboards and a profound mysterious atmosphere, combined with an extremist ideology - a testament to the true believer.

FERLY015CD HATE FOREST (Ukr): Scythia+1 cd
Definitive re-issue of their first album. Includes expanded booklet and an 11-minute bonus track, "To Those Who Came Before Us". Utterly dark and rumbling true Black Metal with harsh, growled vocals.

FERLY016MCD SUNWHEEL (Pol): Monuments of the Elder Faith mcd
Radical, symphonic Black Metal, with crystal-clear sound, angry screamed vocals, and spacious, sweeping atmospheres soaring over raging guitars. The best description for this is that this is the fascist's 'Into the Nightside Eclipse'. Top quality and still a huge, unexploded potential!

FERLY017CD KATAXU (Pol): Hunger of Elements cd
Totally astral and orchestral Black Metal with members of SUNWHEEL. An absolutely immense pilar of strength, rooted in the deep geological past and reaching outwards into the fathomless cosmological darkness.

FERLY020CD THE MEADS OF ASPHODEL (GBr): "Damascus Steel" cd
Third studio album. Apocalyptic, symphonic Black Metal. The continuation of their anti-religious fundamentalism theme began in their 'Jihad' mini-album.

Radical, fast, atmospheric Ukrainian Black Metal.

FERLY022CD DRUDKH (Ukr): Lebedynyi Shlyakh cd
Fantastic third album full of pagan fury, now both faster and folkier than its elite predecessor, blending dreamy melancholy and black rage. Superior musicianship, crystalline production, raw bite, and radical ideology. Comes with an attractive twelve-page booklet with lyrics taken from the poetry of Ukraine's great poet, ardent patriot, and thinker, Taras Shevchenko.

Profound Dark Ambient by HATE FOREST member, full of menace and apocalyptic omens. From the breath of the Black Plague to the art of the Middle Ages, through to alchemy and the rise and fall of empires, each track sucks you into a bleak corner of European history. Total kulturpessimismus in the Lagardian vein.

FERLY029CD LUNAR AURORA (Deu): Ars Moriendi (improved re-issue) cd
Fantastic fourth album from a German band who marked a phenomenal leap forward with this one: sharp, icy, fuzzy guitars, yet lots of bass, original, diverse, and frequent non-melodic keyboard highlights, and great riffs. This version has been improved with an added guitar, thus beefing up the sound, and new layouts.
